Easy Writing Activities to Do at Home

Simple Classroom Pins-36.png

In light of recent events, I wanted to share some easy writing activities + parent tips for writing instruction that can be shared with your parents and families! Feel free to share this blog post in your parent newsletters, or download these guides and email them out, if you are doing any kind of online or distance learning in the coming weeks.

Over the course of this week, March 16-20, I will be sharing quick, easy-to-implement activity ideas for grades K-5 in a variety of content areas. I’m designing them for parents here in my area in mind. Our teachers have been given no directives to keep teaching as normal in any capacity (yet). But parents are in need of just a little bit of structure in their day, because they are trying to keep their job going, too!

One sure way to keep your kids engaged in something they can do independently, is to give them a writing assignment! You can access the guides using the buttons below for your grade level. Download, print, and follow in order, or let the kids choose which ones they may want to do each day.

These writing guides hit 5 different genres of writing, so the kids are practicing a wide range of standards in one week. There are tips on what to focus on included on each guide, so parents or other caregivers can see some highlights of the standards in that grade level, and have an idea of what’s worth the stress and what isn’t.

Click the buttons below to download the guide for your grade level:

And stay tuned for more free activity calendars over the next few days!
