Digital Writing Journal for 2nd Grade
Introducing a new addition to The Simple Classroom: the Digital Writing Journal! A review of all of the genres of writing present in the 2nd Grade CCSS, but as a quick-hit of daily writing!
Here’s how they work:
When you purchase, the file is copied directly into your Google Drive. You must have a Google Account to use this product.
Teacher directions are included in the file you download from TPT. You will want to teach kids to make a copy of this in their own drives, so they aren’t all typing into the same file! The steps are in the ‘teacher directions’.
Once all students have their own copy of the journal, they can work through the writing prompts. 30 prompts are included in this first journal, giving you a full month of quick writing, reviewing how-to writing, persuasive writing, personal narrative, fiction writing, and informative writing.
You can assign these however it works best for you. You can ask students to login and work on one prompt in order for 20 minutes a day, or tell them to work at their own pace over the course of the month. Either way, students will have worked on each genre of writing multiple by the end of the 30 prompts!
You can log in to students’ journals and leave feedback in Google whenever you want! This is a good way to manage taking grades while distance learning, or just give feedback to grow them as writers.
