Distance Learning Read Alouds for Earth Day

Earth Day is this Wednesday, April 22, 2020! I know we’re not with our students this year, so Earth Day may not include the traditional “pick up trash around campus” or “sort recycling in our classroom” activities, but I am of the belief that we need to celebrate every. little. thing. right now with our kids. So a distance-learning Earth Day celebration is definitely in order!

I created a digital Earth Day Book Companion to give you some paired activities to do with your class, if you planned on reading (or streaming a Youtube video of) Michael Recycle by Ellie Bethel! This is a cute, short book that talks about the importance of keeping our community clean…or you may end up like the people in Abberdoo-Rimey…buried in garbage that is rotten and slimy!

This digital book companion includes vocabulary work, comprehension questions, graphic organizers, and a writing activity…all for your students to complete from home! This activity is hosted in Google Drive, so your students will need a Google account to use it!

Engage your students in this fun Earth Day digital activity this week! And don’t forget to check out my Free Resource Library and get your copy of my free Would You Rather Earth Day Writing!
