Reading fluency can be fun! This pack includes six reading centers that will boost reading fluency in 2nd grade students. These reading activities can be used with any book in your classroom.
This Fluency Center Pack will challenge your students to work on their reading fluency, but they will LOVE every second of it!

6 Reading Fluency Centers for any season:
Partner Reading (Read a book with a partner using elements of fluency. Complete a comprehension check.)
Punctuation Change Up (Read books in pairs, then change the punctuation on some sentences. Complete a punctuation page reflecting on how the punctuation changes the meaning and the way you read the sentence.)
Speed Read (Students time themselves reading high-frequency phrase cards.)
Reader's Theater (Read scripts with a partner. Complete a comprehension check.)
Expression Exercise. (Students change their voice as they read, according to expression cards.)
Poetry Performance. (Students read poems with expression in pairs.)

If you teach first through third grade, you know that reading fluency is a critical part of teaching students how to read. After decoding is not the main focus, students must be able to read fluently in order to deeply comprehend a story.
But, targeting fluency on a regular basis can be difficult. You can’t work with every child on their fluency every time they read, so you need activities that target those skills that they can do on their own!
Buddy Reads target 2nd grade fluency skills perfectly! Your readers will read a script with a partner, then reflect on their expression, rate, and accuracy. They will also answer comprehension questions
What makes this resource different from other reader’s theater resources?
Each script only has two parts. This makes it easy for you to assign as center or station work, because students do not need to sit in large groups to practice reading the scripts together. Or, they work well in small groups. You can split your small groups into pairs and have them perform scripts for each other!
This resource is written at a 2nd grade level. Each script is only two pages, so it is easy to copy front and back. The shorter length and accessible text makes it easy for students to practice fluency skills, and actually see growth!
